Mike taught three beginner classes this winter season, so we decided to celebrate them and with them. They all did great. Most of the people you see in the pictures on this page were students, some were angels and a few came from other sessions Mike does in the winter to support the students. We danced four squares just about every tip during the party. Figure there were about 50 people present.
A little more about the beginner classes. One was for the Desert Mainstreamers and the other two were sessions Mike did on his own. Between the three classes there were about 40 students who came regularly and quite a few of them attended two or even all three sessions. Some were returning after having been away from square dancing for a number of years, but the majority were new to square dancing. In addition, we had at least a dozen angels that helped on a regular basis during one or more of the sessions.
Mike believes the majority of the students are going to contiue square dancing. A few are people that live year round in the area and should be able to dance with local year round clubs. The rest were snowbirds and hopefully will be able to find clubs in their area.
